Charles Daly, Hammer Double, CAL: 8 Bore, MFG: Late 19th Century, SN: 2580, Break Action SxS Shotgun, 33'' barrels. The side plates are marked ''CHARLES DALY'' & the rib is marked ''CHALES DALY FINE DAMASCUS BARRELS''. All matching SN on the trigger guard, forend, floor plate & water table. The original, checkered round knob wood stock & forend are very good & solid. There is a crack on the left side of the stock, above the trigger guard, some popped grains on the buttstock, along with contusions, scrapes & dings. The forend has been sanded & refinished, but the buttstock appears untouched. The damascus barrels have worn to metal grey, with a thin brown patina. There's intermittent spotting & the Damascus thumbprint pattern is still easily visible. The receiver has worn to metal grey & toned to a brown patina, with consistent spotting & speckling. It may have been case-hardened, but there are no remnants or case-colors remaining. The receiver, barrel ends, break lever, trigger guard & forend break lever all display simple ornamental engraving. Bores are fair, dark & rough. The solid rib holds a single front bead. Stock carries a checkered horn buttplate that's worn towards the top. Double triggers. A large bore shotgun by a well known maker. Antique, No FFL Req. - Value: 1500 to 3000
