BOXED, Colt, Model Python Polished Nickel, CAL: 357 Magnum, MFG: 1980, SN: LA8076, Double Action Revolver, 8'' barrel. The Colt Python was introduced as a premium model in 1955, in caliber .357 Magnum, with some rare caliber variations produced along the way. The Python is built on the large I-frame & has a reputation for accuracy, smooth trigger pull, & a tight cylinder lock-up. It has a 6-shot swing-out cylinder & was available in Python blue, Royal blue, Python nickel & Python stainless steel finishes. Some firearm collectors & writers have described the Python as ''the finest production revolver ever made''. It has a wide serrated target hammer, ventilated rib, & fully adjustable target quality rear sights. The left side of barrel is stamped ''PYTHON .357 * .357 MAGNUM CTG * ''. The Rampant Colt gold medallion, checkered wooden grips on this example are near mint. The polished nickel finish is minty, with one tiny spot on the right side of barrel. Bore is mint. The satin finished top of the ventilated rib barrel holds a screw height adjusting ''U'' notch rear sight & black serrated blade front sight. This gun comes in an original Colt wood grain box, with correct madel, caliber, barrel length & finish, but the incorrect SN on label. FFL Req. - Value: 3000 to 4000
