Remington. Model: 03-A3. CAL: 30-06. MFG: 1942 (First Year Production), S/N: 3403920, Bolt action rifle, 23 1/2'' Round barrel. The Straight wood stock is very good, with light nicks, dings, dents, scratches, & wear from use & age, 2'' tight hairline crack on bottom of wrist emanating from lower tang, 4 3/4'' crack on top of wrist emanating from upper tang, ''P'' cartouche on bottom of wrist. The parkerized metal finish on the barrel rates 80% with spots of wear & thinning finish, the parkerized metal finish on receiver rates 70% with spots of gray & thinned finish. Top front of receiver is marked, ''U.S.'', ''REMINGTON'', ''MODEL 03-A3'', S/N. Top of barrel by the muzzle is marked, ''R. A'', Flaming bomb, ''12-42''. Bottom of barrel is marked ''P'', ''1''. All other smaller metal parts are marked with a ''R''. Bore is very good, has spots of roughness, Correct Early 4 groove rifling for this age of barrel. Blade front sight, aperture windage & elevation adjustable rear sight, marked on top ''2'' to ''8''. Steel trapdoor Butt plate, has wear. Bottom sling swivels. Action is tight and functions smooth. This rifle was likely part of the first shipment of 03-A3 rifles sent to the military in December of 1942 based on the date of the barrel. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 700 to 1400
