Asfa Ankara German Rebuild. Model: M38. Cal: 7.92x57mm. MFG: 1947. S/N: 1F26941. Bolt Action Rifle. 282/4'' Barrel. The semi pistol grip stock is very good with scratches, gouges, oil darkening & wear from use/age, hole in bottom of stock between barrel bands, hairline crack on bottom of stock that runs from rear barrel band to front barrel band retention spring, bolt disassembly disc in stock, rear barrel band's retention screw has been damaged and would need drilled out to remove it so you can take the stock off. The metal finish rates 70% overall with spots of thinned bluing. Left side of receiver is marked with S/N, top of receiver is marked ''T C'', ''AS FA'', ''ANK ARA'', ''1947'', Crescent Moon/ Stars, left side of receiver rail has a very faint ''GEW 98'' marking, right side of receiver band is marked with faint German proof marks, end of barrel is stamped with importer marks, S/N mismatched bolt, bolt & inside of action still have large amounts of original grease from when it was stored at the arsenal. Bore is very good, slightly dark with strong rifling. Barleycorn front sight, V-notch Tangent rear sight marked 1 to 20. Metal Butt plate with wear & brown patina. Bottom sling swivels, Missing cleaning rod. This rifle appears to originally been a German made Gew 98 pattern rifle that was re-arsenaled in 1947 by the Turks into their standard M38 patter, this was very common for the time since Turkey had many different Mauser rifle and converted them all into one standard pattern for easy of use & logistics.
