RARE Winchester, Model 87 (1885) Low Wall, WINDER MUSKET, marked 22 SHORT, MFG. 1919, SN: 133563, Lever Single Shot Rifle, 28'' round barrel. The model 87 is the third variation of the 1895 Winder Musket low-wall. Introduced in 1918 & production ending in 1920 with a total production estimated at 13,000. Most examples are martial marked, as is this rifle stamped behind the hammer & ahead of the upper tang. The original single barrel banded stocks are excellent & solid, with most of the original finish remaining with some added oils. There are a few initials scratched into the right wrist & numerous light scratches, dings & contusions. The receiver carries a Lyman no. 53 receiver peep sight, which protects some of the original blue, the rest of the receiver worn gray with a thin layer of brown patina. The left side of receiver has the initials ''O. L.'' scratched onto it. The barrel carries 50% of the original factory blue toning brown. Bore is very good, with some frosting of the strong rifling. Standard blade front sight. Factory sling swivels. Carbine style metal buttplate. This is an unusual marshal stamped rifle, in high, original & collectible condition. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 1000 to 2000
