Sharps, 1863 Cavalry Carbine, believed to be a .54 Cal., MFG. Antique, SN: 44XXX, Lever Action falling block, 22'' Round barrel, Civil War Sharps Saddle Ring Carbine. Wood stock is very good solid & original except tight 5'' crack to forearm from receiver forward & missing chip at top of forend against frame, lots of historical contusions, scratches & dings, two dozen kill notches nicked into top of stock, shrinkage at the toe. Metal has an even coverage of dark greyish/brown patina, bore is good, brown. with strong rifling, adjustable R.S. Lawrence rear ladder sight with strong snap, front blade sight. Markings on side plates: Sharps Pat Oct 5th 1852 & RS Lawrence PAT April 12 1859, on other side, Pat. 1848. Solid old Calvary Carbine with a lot of history to tell. Antique No FFL Req. - Value: 3000 to 6000
