Winchester Model 1895 Take-down, CAL: marked 30 GOV'T-1906 (30-06), MFG: 1910, SN: 70288, Lever Action Rifle, 24'' Tapered round barrel. The factory straight grip wood stock & schnabel forend, with the ebony inlay, are very good. The stock has been lightly sanded & nicely refinished, with some of the original handling marks & contusions remaining. The forend carries the original finish, with a few minor scrapes or contusions & a 2'' tight stress cracks at the tip. The original metal blue finish on the barrel rates 90%, with a couple of small spots of minor pitting near the muzzle. The receiver & mag box have worn mostly gun metal gray, with some remains of blue in the protected areas of the mag. The rifle has a matted bridge on the receiver, which is a rare & unusual special order feature on a 1895. Bore is very good. The barrel holds an adjustable rear sight & pinched blade front sight. Stock carries a crescent metal buttplate. The rifle retains a nice appearance & remains in very good condition. It would make a great take-down hunting rifle. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 1000 to 2000
