Winchester, Model 1894 TORONTO Saddle Ring Carbine, 30-30 Cal., MFG. 1914, SN: 697767, Lever Action Carbine, 20'' Round barrel, Full mag. The left side of the buttstock is stamped ''City of Toronto''. These carbines were typically used by guards at the Don Jail in Toronto & some were also used by Toronto Police. They were also used by guards or military for government buildings & any number of WW1 related uses. The original wood stocks are very good. The stocks finish appears original, darkened from oils & use. Stocks carry numerous small scratches, scrapes & small contusions, all consistent with use as a daily guard gun. Barrel carries 30% of the original factory blue finish, 50% on mag. The receiver & lever have worn mostly silver with a couple areas remaining blue in protected areas & on tangs. The serial number is on the bottom of the receiver. A staple mounted saddle ring is located on the left side of the receiver. The address atop the barrel & other barrel markings are all still very clear. Bore is very good with strong riffling. Barrel carries a well functioning carbine folding ladder rear sight, with strong snap & standard carbine barrel mounted box post front sight. Stock carries a steel carbine buttplate. Tight action & appears mechanically sound. This is a fabulous, original & collectible Toronto service 1894 SRC with a great aged appearance. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 1500 to 2500
