Description

Winchester, Model 55, marked 32 WIN, MFG. unknown, SN: 1070506, Lever Action Take-down Rifle, 24'' Tapered round barrel, 1/2 mag., Unusually high serial number for a model 55 as there were only approximately 20,580 model 55 rifles produced. It is possible that this is an 1894 receiver with a model 55 marked barrel, but the receiver's upper tangs only has the Winchester roll stamp. Not sure exactly what is being offered here. The factory walnut stocks are excellent & solid. The original finish is very good, but thinning particularly on the forend, with only a couple very minor scuffs or contusions. Metal blue finish is 95% on barrel starting to tone a bit plum. Receiver & mag have been reblued after holes from previously being tapped & drilled were professionally filled & then high polished blued & retained at 98''%. Bore is excellent, with strong rifling. Full buckhorn rear & period front sight. Serrated metal buttplate. Strong, tight action. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 600 to 1200
