Marlin Ballard, Model #6 1/2 Off-hand Rifle, Cal. 40-50, MFG 1888, Antique, SN:20471, Lever action single-shot rifle. The 31'' rebarreled heavy octagon barrel carries the 3-line address which reads: ''Marlin Firearms Co. New Haven CT. U.S.A./Patented, February 9, 1875/Ballard's Patent. Nov 5. 1861''. The checkered, undercut cheeked & pistol grip fine English Walnut stocks are excellent. The swiss pattern stock carries an improved Off-Hand nickeled buttplate exactly fitting the arm. Wood to metal finish is excellent. The heavy octagon barrel carries 90% blue. The case-hardened receiver still retains lovely case-colors. The lever & peep filler screws appear to have modern blue. Bore is excellent. No sight provisions. Barrel carries an unmarked 36 1/4'' vintage scope, 3/4'' diameter with fine crosshairs, clear glass & brass endcap. Action is tight & excellent. An excellent overall condition sporting rifle. No FFL Req. - Value: 3000 to 8000
