Description

Marlin, Model 1881 DELUXE, marked 40 Cal., MFG. 1890, SN: 44131, Lever Action Rifle, 28'' 1/2 Octagon to round barrel, Half mag., This deluxe rifle comes with several special order features which are confirmed in the factory letter. The factory deluxe, ''B'' style checkered, ''S'' shaped pistol grip wood stocks are very good & solid. The lower portion of the stock has been lightly sanded & refinished without damaging the checkering. The original finish remains on the rest of the stocks with thinning at the carry points & added oils for protection. There are numerous small scuffs, scratches & minor contusions to the stocks. The original metal blue finish has mostly worn from the barrel, retaining just a thin layer of brown patina. The receiver finish has thinned to 20%, 50% on mag, with areas of loss also toning to a thin brown patina. The stock carries the original widow's peak crescent metal buttplate. Barrel carries an original adjustable rear & a period front sights. Action remains tight & smooth. Ordered with set trigger. Bore is very good, with strong rifling. Comes with Cody generated factory letter. This is a fine example of an early deluxe rifle in great condition. Antique, No FFL Req. - Value: 2000 to 4000
