Description

Marrimack Arms & M.F.G. Co., Ballard, Sporting Rifle, .50 Cal., MFG. Antique SN: 19790, Lever Single Shot Rifle, 30'' Octagon barrel. Manufactured from 1867-1869 with an estimated 2200 produced (almost all sporting rifles). The straight walnut stocks are solid & original. They appear to carry the original finish, thinning from wear & use. They have several small handling marks, dings & contusions. The barrel retains 50% blue coverage with some small areas of light pitting. The receiver, lever, hammer, forend tip & crescent buttplate are case-hardened & faded to a mottled gray patina. Mounted with a flip-up rear leaf sight & standard front sight. The left side of the receiver carries patent date stampings, ''MERRIMACK ARMS & MFG. CO. / NEWBURYPORT MASS. / BALLARD'S PATENT / NOV 5 1861''. Bore is very good, bright & shiny with strong rifling.* No FFL Req. - Value: 2500 to 3500
