Custom Engraved US Springfield Armory Rifle, Model 1903, reconfigured to a 35 Whelen Cal., MFG. Unknown, SN: 272664, Bolt Auction Rifle, 24'' Round. Wonderful custom & extensive engraving by Tom Frost of Frost Engraving from Layfette Oregon. The custom & finely hand checkered stock by Steve Nelson of Nelson's custom guns is excellent. It has been recontoured, hand checkered & finely carved in great detail with a capped pistol grip. The wood finish is excellent with 35 coats of hand rubbed true oil & 2 coats of tongue oil. Finish has a few handling marks & thin finish. The finely engraving is on the receiver, barrel, bolt, floorplate, sling swivel mount, safety, top, sides & bottom of barrel tip & trigger guard & the pattern was inspired by Nimschke's engraving. The top of the barrel has an engraved santa face hidden in the scrolls & a Christmas tree engraved on the plate ahead of the floorplate. The metal blue finish is 98%. Bore is excellent, shiny & bright, Decelerator solid black buttpad, provisions for sling swivels. Jeweled bolt body with checkered & engraved bolt. Buhler style flip safety. Mounted with a Redfield adj. rear peep sight, bladed front ramped sight. An excellent, high quality & high condition custom rifle.* FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 2500 to 5000
