Description

Rare Winchester Model 1890 First Model Solid Frame Slide Action Rifle, SN 6221, 22 Short, MFG 1891, 24'' Octagon barrel This 2nd yr. rifle is properly un-proofed & remains in nice condition. The original walnut stocks are very good & solid, but the stock has had a light sanding probably to remove the remains of uneven finish due to thinning or flaking. The forearm carries about 50% of the original finish. The stocks show several small nicks scratches & contusions. The barrel & magazine retain about 25% original blue finish overall which is evenly thinning & blending overall with a pleasing smooth brown patina. The case-hardened receiver displays faded original case-colors which have softened to smokey outlines of gray patina. The bore is good with roughness or light pitting, but with strong visible rifling. Standard front & rear sights. Crescent metal buttplate. First model, case-hardened 1890 rifles are highly collectible & this example remains above average in condition. No FFL Req. - Value: 2000 to 4000
