Winchester, Model 99 ''Thumb Trigger'', CAL: 22 S.L.Ex L., MFG: 1904-23, SN: NSN, Bolt Action Rifle, 17 1/4'' barrel. The original straight grip wood stock is very good & solid, refinished, I has a tight 1'' stress crack at the toe & a 2 1/2'' grain crack the emanates from behind the hammer & wraps back around to beneath the bolt handle. Neither is distracting to the appearance. There are also several minor contusions, scratches & scrapes to the excellent finish. The metal blue finish has worn mostly to a gun metal grey, with a thin brown patina & some remains of blue in more protected areas. Bore is poor, with scarring & pitting. Throughout & almost no visible rifling. The barrel holds a standard notch dovetail rear & blade front sights. Stock carries a replaced plastic buttplate. Many of these were shipped to Australia & South America, making them less common in U.S & generally sought by collectors when in presentable surviving condition. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 300 to 600
