Description

Winchester, U.S. Model 1917, Cal. .30-06, MFG. 1918, S/N: 62689, Bolt Action Rifle, 26'' Round barrel. This is an Arsenal rebuild of a WWI Winchester Model 1917 bolt action rifle. The top of the receiver is marked ''U.S./MODEL OF 1917/WINCHESTER/62689''. ''W'' marked bolt. The muzzle end of the barrel is without stamps as it is a WWII Johnson Automatics Barrel. The left receiver rail is stamped with the ordnance bomb & encircled 5 point star. Mounted with a ''R'' stamped (Remington) smooth matching two piece walnut pistol grip stock & handguard with a stacking swivel & bayonet lug on the front band. The ''eagle head'' & 3 digit number stamped on the underside ahead of the floor plate is faint. sling swivels & steel buttplate with cleaning kit compartment, (kit not included). WWII Cartouche for rebuild. The wood is good & solid, with lots of handling marks & an added coat of varnish. Most metal parts have been parkerized or flat finish. Bore is good, with roughness, but clear rifling. Factory Sights. Tight bolt & action. A very serviceable shooter. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 400 to 800
