Browning, GOLD CLASSIC, Model A-5, Made in Belgium, (391 of 500), 12 GA., 2 3/4'', Mod Choke, MFG. 1982, SN: 211GC391, 28'' Matted vent rib barrel. Semi-Auto. This gun has a matching S/N twin in a Superposed in Lot 4288 of this sale. The exceptional burl figured walnut stocks are finely hand checkered, with punch dot borders & carved flourishes of scrolled acanthus with stippled background. The stock is excellent, but does have grain flaws that were addressed at the factory. The coin finished receiver is engraved with large, open, shaded scroll & flocks of ducks as counterpoint to gold raised inlay of hunting scenes in appropriate backgrounds. The left side has a retriever bounds into water after fallen duck with falling feathers from the sky. The image is over a rib & gold inlaid ''391 OF FIVE HUNDRED''. Engravers signature ''L. Pirotte'' is at lower left of scene. Right side depicts a pair of gold raised inlaid flushing mallards over ''BROWNING GOLD CLASSIC'' in ribbon. A silver portrait of John M. Browning is in oval frame behind sporting scene. Engravers signature ''A.Pose'' is found under portrait. Gold tone trigger. Bore is near mint, Original FN Browning buttplate.
