Harrington & Richardson arms, Model: M1 Garand, Cal: .30-06, MFG: 1956, S/N, 5793201, Semi-auto rifle, 24'' barrel. Harrington & Richardson ended M1 Garand production at S/N 5793847, making this rifle one of the last few hundred produced at the H&R factory. The semi-pistol grip wood stock is very good with little to minor wear, likely a after market replacement since there is no cartouches or markings on the stock, 5'' tight crack on right side of forend. The metal finish rates 85% overall with spots of light wear & light rust speckling. Top rear of receiver is marked ''U.S. Rifle'', ''CAL. .30M1'', ''H&R ARMS CO.'', & S/N, top of bolt is marked ''8394'', right side of barrel is marked ''S-A-2-51''. Bore is very good, bright & mirror like with lightly worn rifling. Barrel holds a blade front sight with protective wings, fully adjustable aperture rear sight. Checkered steel trapdoor butt plate. Bottom sling sloops with stacking swivel. M1 Garand production initially stopped in 1945 with the end of WW2 but with the advent of the Korean war production started back up at Springfield in early 1952, along with Springfield 2 more company's also started up production, International Harvester Co. in mid 1951, ended in early 1956, & Harrington & Richardson Arms Co. in early 1952, ended in early 1956. The last service M1 Garand rolled of the Springfield assembly line on may 17th 1957. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 1200 to 2400
