Savage, Model 101, .22 LR, Single Shot, MFG 1960-68, SN: 52825, This pistol developed by Robert L. Hillberg was intended as a small & inexpensive pistol for youths. This is essentially a scaled-down copy of the Colt Single Action Army in appearance. On closer inspection, it becomes apparent the pistol is not really a revolver, rather a single-shot pistol. To reload the weapon, the barrel, cylinder & ejector mechanism pop out the right side of the frame, where a .22 LR round can be ejected& a new one inserted. The cylinder is fixed, although fake bullets are machined into the cylinder chambers to simulate a real functioning cylinder. Wood grips have Savage Indian Head logo on both sides. Japan Black finish is 95% on frame & cylinder. Barrel is blued steel. Overall, this is a fine & unique youth single shot pistol. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 200 to 400
