Description

Smith's Patent, No.22, CAL: .22 Short, MFG: circa 1870's, SN: 3560, Single Action Revolver, 2 3/8'' barrel. The top of the frame is marked in two lines, 'SMITH'S PATENT'', ''APRIL 15, 1873 No. 22''. The birdshead style wood grips are very good & solid. There are minor contusions, scrapes, dings & the finish has worn over time. The nickel finish rates 70% overall, with areas worn to metal gray & toned to a brown patina. Bore is fair, consistently rough, with pitting. Groove & blade sights. There is an internal mechanical issue; the hammer pulls back, the cylinder rotates, but the trigger spring doesn't appear to be functioning. The hammer can be manually moved forward, but only when the trigger is being held down. Otis A. Smith of Rockfall, Conn. made numerous styles of inexpensive pocket revolvers, however it's said that the quality was good for the price. Antique, No FFL Req. - Value: 100 to 200
