Tanner System, Model: Single Shot Target Rifle. Cal: 32-40. MFG:1910. Switzerland, S/N: 4192. Lever/tilting block style action. 30 1/4 '' full octagon barrel. The rifle caomes with a Tanner letter confirming the production of the rifle & it being featured & pictured in a company book. The rifle comes with a letter which The original & beautifully checkered walnut stocks relent with nice clear grain. The stocks have likely been professionally refinished & are in excellent condition, with only a few very light scratches in the buttstock. The buttstock carries an extremely large & comfortable cheek rest & a carved right side thumb rest. The casehardened action & lever still display outlines of visible case-coloring. Stock caries a Swiss Schuetzen style iron buttplate. Two line marked on top of receiver behind breech, ''ORIGINAL SYST.'' & ''TANNER''. Receiver has exceptionally fine floral vine engraving with a man in Bavarian style clothing/hat in forest on left & a woman in dress & feathered hat on right. Diamond with dot engraving on top of receiver & stars stamped along side of the breech block. Barrel is a grey-green patina throughout & the flats are all sharp edges. Very fine double set-triggers. German proof marks on upper receiver & on block. Barrel carries an adjustable globe front sight with internal post. The rifle comes with a specialized key utilized to make fine tuned adjustments to the rear & tang sights. The adjustable rear is fitted to a milled integral rail on top of barrel, adjustable in elevation to 100, 175, 300 marks on side. The same key is utilized to adjust the very unique, heavy-duty, Vernier style tang sight with large aperture. Sling swivels on barrel & buttstock. All parts original & complete. Bore is in excellent condition, with sharp visible rifling. Barrel to receiver has no play & function is excellent. 12.26 lbs. This is a very high quality early 20th century firearm, with fantastic custom features. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 3000 to 6000
