J. Stevens A & T Co. Model 45. Cal. 32-40. MFG:1896 to 1916 SN:8751. Single shot lever action rifle. 27 3/4'' Octagon/round heavy barrel. The original straight grip stock & Schnabel tipped forearm are original & excellent. The stocks carry the original finish with an added layer protective oil. The stocks carry light dings & scratches, with darker areas where the original finish wore thin & the added oils darkened. Barrel retains 80% of the original factory bluing, with scuffed areas of loss along the bottom toning plum. Barrel marked: J. STEVENS A & T CO. CHICOPEE FALLS. MASS USA. APR. 17.94. Receiver retains great case-colors on all sides, fading on the lever from use. Serial numbers match on tang & barrel. Barrel carries fixed rear & folding globe front sights. Buttstock carries a casehardened Swiss style buttplate which is one of the differences between the model 44 & this model 45. Bore is excellent. Action is tight & Appears to function well.
