MASS. Arms Co. Edward Maynard Patent, Model Deluxe 16, Tip-up Two barrel set, Cal: .32.40 & .22. MFG: 1873-82, SN: 2293. Lever-break single shot rifle. 26'' heavy octagon to round barrel for 32-40 caliber & 24'' octagon to round tapered barrel for the .22 caliber. Receiver is marked on left: ''EDWARD MAYNARD/ PATENTEE/MAY 27, 1851/DEC 6, 1859'' followed by ''1873''. The right side is marked: ''MANUFACTURED BY/ MASS ARMS CO. /CHICOPEE FALLS/1882''. The three piece checkered buttstock & forearms are very good, appearing to carry original finish on nicely grained American walnut & contain only light scratches & dings. The 32-40 caliber barrel comes with period scope blocks & mounts for an unmarked 18 1/2'' vintage scope, with slightly smokey glass & fine crosshairs. No rear sight provision & fixed globe with heavy post front sight. No visible markings on barrel. Barrel finish retained at 80% of blue with some toning towards the muzzle. The .22 caliber barrel carries no provision for rear sight & a folding combination globe with fine post/bead front sight. Barrel is serial numbered to gun. Barrel retains 90% of blue. Tang sight with 7/8'' single aperture disk, elevation adjustable w/ 0 to 40 increments stamped in left side, is in excellent condition. The action displays faded, but very visible case-coloring. One of he levers appears re-blued, while the other displays original faded case-colors. Nickle plated Swiss-style Schuetzen buttplate in very good condition with some wear on bottom tang showing brass color. Bores on both barrels are very good, shiny, with crisp rifling. The 1873/1882 receiver stamps indicate factory revisionary work to this rifle before leaving plant. Action is tight & mechanically sound. A very rare two-barrel/caliber rifle in fantastic condition. with vintage scope/mounts & sights. Antique, No FFL Req. - Value: 4000 to 8000
