The pistol grip walnut are very good condition & appear to carry the original finish. There are some light scratches & dings to the Schnabel tip forend. There are light scratches on stock, which displays very nice grain throughout. There are three filled holes on the top comb of the buttstock that have been filled & finish touched up, where an old target sight once resided. There is no center wood insert over the long bottom tang between the two sides of the pistol grip. The buttstock carries a nickel silver Schuetzen style buttplate, with some wear exposing the brass beneath. Barrel retains about 75% bluing with some toning to a brown patina in areas of edge loss or wear. The case-hardened receiver, lever & lower tang have visible case-colors. Markings on left side of receiver 4 line: Edward Maynard Patentee 1873 - May 27, 1851 Dec 6, 1859. Markings on right side of receiver 4 line: Manufactured by MASS ARMS CO Chicopee Falls. & 1882. Rifle mounted with a Vernier tang peep sight with elevating graduations 0 to 90, an open rear dovetail & Lyman front blade sight with ivory bead. Bore is very good, with sharp visible rifling, but also with a rough section a couple inches past the chamber. Screws show slot wear. Action is very tight, barrel to receiver has no play & appears to function well. Overall condition is very good, as all parts appear original & complete. Antique, No FFL Req - Value: 1000 to 2000
