FABULOUS DELUXE Winchester, Model 1885 Sporting Rifle, .32-40 Cal., MFG. 1907, SN:105963, Lever Action Single Shot Rifle, 36'' Full Octagon #4 heavy barrel. This special order rifle carries a number of customized features. The deluxe checkered pistol grip wood stocks are excellent, solid & believed to be original. The Swiss style sow's belly stock carries a raised cheek, a steep rise top comb & a nickeled Schuetzen buttplate. The Schnabel forearm the ebony inlay in the tip. Both stocks display wonderful grain & show some wear with thinning finish & light handling marks. The stock has a 2'' crack on the left side of the wrist emanating from the end of the upper tang. The blued finish on barrel remains at 75%, toning from a dark gray to a plum/brown patina. The receiver retains the original blue at 70% with plum patina coming through in speckled areas of thinning blue & wear along the edges. The case-hardened lever & hammer have toned gray with a thin spotting of brown patina & some case-colors in protected areas of lever & inside action. Rifle carries double set triggers which work correctly. The bore is very good, with solid rifling. Mounted with an early graduated, slide adjusting, aperture tang peep sight, barrel mounted spirit leveling rear sight & a globe front sight. This rifle has a wonderful appearance & remains collectible as a deluxe 1885 rifle. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 5000 to 10000
