Winchester, Model 1885 Low Wall Rifle, 32 SHORT Cal., MFG. 1889, SN: 30171, Lever Action Single Shot Rifle, 24 1/4'' Full octagon #1 marked barrel, The wood stocks are very good, solid & original with several small contusions & a few longer scratches. The stock has 2'' hairline cracks emanating from both the upper & lower tangs. Also, there is a tight 1'' crack at the left wrist against the receiver. The forearm has the ebony inlay at tip, but also has a tightly glued 1'' hairline crack at the tip. The original finish is very good with thinning at carry points on forearm & wrist. Metal finish on barrel remains blue at 70% with edges & areas of wear turned a brown patina with freckling. The case-hardened receiver, block & hammer displays a darker gray, with a thin layer of brown patina & visible case-color remaining on the hammer. Bore is fair, with visible rifling & roughness. The barrel carries an adjustable rear & standard front sights. Metal crescent buttplate. The caliber is stamped inside the forearm & under the forearm on the barrel.
