RARE Winchester, Model 87 (1885) Low Wall, WINDER MUSKET, marked 22 SHORT, MFG. 1920, SN: 139029, Lever Single Shot Rifle, 28'' round barrel. The model 87 is the third variation of the 1895 Winder Musket low-wall. Introduced in 1918 & produced until 1920, with a total production estimated at 13,000. While most examples are martial stamped behind the hammer & ahead of the upper tang, this rifle is not. The original single barrel banded stocks are excellent & solid, with most of the original finish remaining. There are a few light scratches & several tiny contusions or handling marks, but remains in excellent condition. The receiver carries a Lyman no. 53 receiver peep sight with large disk aperture. The sight helps protect the original blue finish on the receiver, which remains at 80% on the right side, 50% on the left. The barrel carries 70% of the original factory blue toning & thinning to a brown patina. Bore is excellent. Standard blade front sight. Factory sling swivels. Carbine style metal buttplate. This is a rare rifle, in high & original collectible condition. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 1000 to 2000
