FANTASTIC Winchester Model 1886, CAL: 38-70, MFG:1895, SN:98706, Lever Action Rifle, 26'' round barrel. Full mag. Parts of this rifle were professionally restored to a high standard. The original straight grip wood stocks are excellent, displaying tiny handling marks or contusions. The fit to metal is excellent, with just a bit of shrinkage at the toe. The stocks display an attractive & rich redish-brown refinish. The original metal blue finish is 95% on barrel & 85% on mag, as its starting to tone a bit plum as it thins. The case-hardened receiver, lever, hammer, forend cap & buttplate all display a unique & beautiful bright case-color which was restored. Bore is very good to excellent with strong rifling. The barrel carries an original adjustable rear sight & standard 1886 front sight. Stock carries an upper tang crescent metal buttplate. Action is crisp & tight. Standard trigger. A wonderful, partially restored antique 1886 rifle in the rare & popular 38-70 cal. Antique NO FFL Req. - Value: 4000 to 6000
