Marlin, Model 1881, marked 32-40 Cal., MFG. 1888, SN: 19326, Lever Action Rifle, 24'' Octagon barrel, Full mag. The original wood stocks are good & solid, but darkened from use & likely some oils or waxes. The stocks display numerous minor contusions or scuffs, with one light 5'' surface scratch to the stock & a stable 3'' crack on the front tip of the forearm. The metal surfaces have an even rust speckled pitting with the balance toning to a brownish/gray patina. Stock carries a crescent metal buttplate. Barrel carries updated sights of an adjustable rear & later front sight. Action remains tight & smooth, with a slight bit of slack to the lever. Bore is brown with roughness, but still good with strong rifling. The rifle has a wonderful old West esthetic & could probably tell some interesting stories from that early era. Antique No FFL Req. - Value: 750 to 1500
