Remington - Hepburn, No. 3 Match Rifle ''A'' Quality, Cal. .32-40, MFG: 1883- 1907, S/N: 7460, 28'' Half octagon - half round barrel. This is a very rare rifle as fewer than 1000 Remington Hepburn No. 3 rifles were produced. The original, checkered, round pistol grip wood stock is in excellent condition, with the majority of original finish. The inlayed, nickeled metal tipped forend is likewise in excellent condition, carrying the original finish, which is thinning a bit on the belly from use. The stocks display very few handling marks or contusions. The original metal blue finish has toned to a lovely & even plum/brown patina, which is thinning a bit on the round portion of the barrel. The case-hardened receiver & side lever still display fading case-colors, with some areas worn to gun metal gray with faded outlines & a thin layer of brown patina. Rifle is mounted with an early graduated, slide adjusting, aperture tang peep sight, no rear provision & a Rocky Mountain style blade front sight. The rifle is stamped 6900 on the lower tang. The stock carries the original nickeled Schuetzen buttplate, which is SN 7460 on the underside. The lower tang, underside of the barrel & receiver end of the forearm are also marked with the correct SN. Bore is excellent. This rifle is a fabulous example of a rare sporting falling block rifle in original collector's condition. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 3000 to 6000
