RARE & BEAUTIFULLY CASED Henry Nock shotgun Model: Flintlock Double Fowler. Cal: ? bore (?), Bores measure at the barrel end .61'', Action: Double barrel, flintlock, side by side shotgun. MFG: Circa 1800. S/N: 2670 on bottom of one barrel. 28 '' Damascus barrels. The plum browned damascus barrels display fantastic swirl pattern in the steel. Gold bands at top of the base of the barrels, with a rib marked '' H. NOCK - LONDON - GUN - MAKER TO HIS MAJESTY'' Proof stamps at bottom of both barrels. Brass tipped wooden ramrod appears in good original condition. The one-piece straight grip stock is very good, with beautifully figured walnut. The stock shows some minor crack repairs & fills, before being lightly sanded & nicely refinished. The refinish did not remove many of the old dings/scratches along the bottom of the forearm & includes a repair at the top of wrist behind the left hammer. The checkering still very visible, but shows wear & smoothing. The cheekrest is nicely sculpted onto the left side of the buttstock. Most of the metal parts down to the screws themselves display very well-done engraving, with a worn William Palmer Hound engraving on trigger guard. The pans, frizzens, hammers, jaw screws, jaws (with full leather & flints installed) & frizzen springs are all in very good condition nicely curved to fit overall pattern of gun. There are inlaid gold touch marks reading ''H NOCK'' on both sideplates. No rear sight, front sight is fine silver blade inletted into the barrel rib. Bores are good & are thinning at the muzzles. Barrel to receiver has no play & function appears excellent. Twin triggers. This shotgun has Nocks patented ''false breech'', which improved ignition & increased velocity in flint guns. Later percussion breeches were modeled after this design. The engraved upper tang on the buttplate extends 4'' on the top of buttstock, with metal sitting proud to wood. Comes in nicely made solid Oak display case containing a Rammes adjustable powder measure (3-5 grains), in increments, Sykes patent brass/leather shot flask & adjustable leather/silver plate priming powder flask, all in excellent condition. LOP: 14 '', DAC: 1 1/2 '', DAH: 2 ''. Weight: 3.88 lbs. An extremely fine, well balanced & nicely preserved Nock Flint Fowler & a wonderful addition to any European gun collection. No FFL Req. - Value: 4000 to 10000
