RARE J. Stevens A & T Co., Model 55, LADY'S TARGET MODEL, Cal: Marked .22. 7 1/2 (7 1/2 was the early designation for .22 WRF), MFG: N/A, SN: 693, Lever Action Falling Block Rifle, 24'' octagon/round barrel. The unique, deluxe, Swiss style, checkered pistol grip wood stocks are excellent & original. The stocks carry the original finish with some added oils & exhibiting minor contusions with light surface scrapes & blemishes to the finish. The stock carries the matching SN 693 stamped under the buttplate in the butt. The buttplate also appears to carry the same number. The forearm is stamped 523 on end against receiver. The barrel blue rates 95%, while the case-hardened receiver, lever & buttplate muted outlines of case-colors toning to a brown patina. The bore is excellent with defined rifling. Barrel is stamped 693 on the underside ahead of the forearm. The buttstock carries a swiss style Schuetzen buttplate. The rifle is fitted with a Lyman Pat. flip-up tang peep sight with large disk aperture, blank filled rear dovetail & a folding globe front sight which was once gold washed.
