J. H. Johnston. Model: GWhW. Cal. 12 ga., MFG:1860-70 SN: none. Double barrel percussion shotgun. 36'' barrels. The one piece checkered walnut stock is good, having been lightly sanded & added finish. Checkering smoothed, with dings scratches & contusions. Shotgun style metal buttplate with brown/grey patina. Barrels are joined with solid concave scalloped rib with single bead sight. Barrels carry a chocolate brown patina. There are two gold inlaid bands on breech end of barrel with some of the gold worn away. Barrel rib marked: ''J.H. Johnston GW HW''. Proof marks & additional marks on bottom of barrels. Receiver, sidelocks, trigger-guard, tangs& hammers all have accent scroll engraving. Post front sight. Bore is brown from rust/age. Wooden ramrod with brass tip. Double hammers, with some degrading of the metal around the mouth of the hammers from use. Appears to function mechanically. 8.7 lbs. LOP: 14 1/4'', DAC: 1 1/4'', DAH: 2 5/8''. No FFL Req. - Value: 300 to 600
