Potsdam, Model Prussian 1851 Cavalry Pistol (horse pistol) MFG:1852. The stock is solid & shows 169 years of dings, nicks & handling marks, but is still in beautiful shape. The mechanics &operation are excellent. The lock mainspring & nipple protector springs are very strong. The overall finish of the metal is a smooth brown patina. The nipple area shows rust. The bore is rusty & pitted. The brass butt-cap has a steel lanyard ring. The brass hardware exhibits a mellow patina. This pistol abounds with inspectors marks, SN's & other acceptance stamps. All of the major parts & most of the smaller parts are stamped with the SN 10. This pistol was not made with a provision for a ram rod. The only ''regimental'' markings are a ''2 u3 63'' on the trigger guard. If you collect or like large pistols, this is one for you. Overall length of this monster is 15''! The condition of this pistol is much better than the ones usually encountered. This is a beautiful condition Prussian pistol & a great piece of history.
