VERY RARE, N/H 46 O.F. Winchester, ''ONE PIECE CASE'', Produced for the model 1868 Musket which was, at best, a short-lived Winchester trials gun. Nearly all specimens seen are constructed with a two-piece copper case consisting of a cylindrical body and a rear rimmed base. This example, however is made with a single drawn copper case. The case shows a deep segmented crimp above the rim which holds in the internal copper cup anvil (similar to a Benet cup) This is a factory loaded specimen, with flat nose lead bullet showing two grooves and a tight roll crimp case mouth. The base is dished with what appears to be a firing pin strike at the center, which we're told is an intended feature of the cartridge. This is a superb example of what is perhaps the rarest of all Winchester cartridges. Grade: Excellent - Value: 3000 to 6000
