Winchester, Model 1876, Third Variation, .45-60 Cal., MFG. 1883, SN: 32914, Lever Action Rifle, 26'' Special Order octagon barrel, Full mag. This is a special order rifle having special order features. The rifle was ordered with XXX wood, with the lower tang being stamped as it should be with ''XXX'' & assembly number ''1658R''. The flat pistol grip stocks are very good & solid, with an ebony inlay in the pistol grip. The stock has nice scalloping & fan grain. The stocks have been lightly sanded & refinished, with very few handling marks or blemishes. There is a 2'' glued crack repair running from the left side of receiver to the lower tang at the wrist. There is a assembly number ''26'' stamped on the inside upper channel of stock. All the metal parts have toned mostly gray with spotty brown patina & some speckling. The loading gate retains some of the bright blue finish. Caliber marking on barrel & block, with SN stamped on lower tang. Bore is very good, with strong rifling & some roughness. Crescent metal sliding trap door buttplate. Barrel carries the original 1876 marked adjustable ladder rear sight & period front sight. Single set trigger. The lever hangs with some slack. According to records, the 26'' barrel is a 1 in 800 feature with approximately only 80 other 1876 rifles having the feature. The set trigger is 1 in 14 or 4560 others, ebony pistol grip is 1 in 420 or approximately 150 others & ordered with XXX wood is 1 in 400 or just one of only 420 1876 rifles having this feature. Overall, a nice looking & fairly rare example of a special ordered 1876. Antique, No FFL Req. - Value: 2000 to 4000
