Savage, Model 1895, marked .303 Cal., MFG. 1895, SN: 7288, Lever Action Rifle, 26'' Tapered octagon barrel, The factory straight grip wood stocks are very good & solid, retaining about 50% of the original finish. The stock displays the most thinning at the carry points, with scuffs, scratches or minor contusions. The original metal blue finish is 70% on barrel toning gray, while the receiver is worn mostly silver, with a thin layer of brown patina. The lever displays brown patina, with remains of case-coloring on the inner parts. The stock carries the original crescent metal buttplate. Fitted with an adjustable rear & blade front sights. Bore is very good. Action is smooth & tight. One of 6,000 to 8,000 made/sold between 1895-99, with actual production probably all the first year. A unique early rifle.
