Whitney Model ''Phoenix Target Rifle'', CAL: 40-65, MFG: 1867-81, SN: 402, Single Shot Rifle, 35'' Heavy round barrel. Less than 2000 Phoenix Sporting or Target rifles were produced, with this example being an early three digit SN. This particular rifle has undergone a professional refinish. The wood stocks are excellent with some minor nicks & dings to the finish. The metal blue finish rates 98% on the barrel, with the case-hardened receiver & trigger guard displaying wonderful case-colors. Bore is excellent with defined rifling. The rifle carries a large adjustable vernier tang sight & globe front sight. The buttstock carries a smooth metal buttplate. SN found on lower tang, on underside of swing bolt & on inside of forearm. The caliber marking (40-65) is stamped on barrel under the forearm. Antique, No FFL Req. - Value: 1000 to 2000
