Remington Model Rolling Block ''No. 2'' Sporting Rifle, CAL: 25-21 Stevens, MFG: 1888-98, SN: 33518, Single Shot Rolling Block, 26'' Tapered octagon barrel. The .25-21 Stevens was an American centerfire rifle cartridge, designed by Capt. W. L. Carpenter, 9th U.S. Infantry. in 1897. The .25-21 was based on the longer .25-25. The caliber The factory round pistol grip & cheeked wood stocks are very good, & solid. The original finish has crackled & is wearing thin, with added oils darkening appearance. There are several small contusions, scrapes & nicks. The metal blue finish rates 70% on the barrel with rust speckling. The case-hardened receiver has smokey outlines of case-colors, with some muted colors remaining & the balance toning to a brown patina over gun metal gray base. Bore is good, worn from use & age, but visible rifling. The rifle carries an adjustable rear tang peep sight, no rear provision & a globe front sight. The buttstock carries a smooth crescent metal buttplate. Matching SN found on lower tang, underside of barrel under forearm & under the buttplate. Caliber marking on bottom barrel flat & under the forearm on same barrel flat. Antique, No FFL Req. - Value: 500 to 1500
