Colt Lightning, Large Frame, Marked .40-60-260 CAL., MFG. 1891, SN: 5620, Slide Action Rifle, 28 1/4'' Octagon barrel, Full mag. The factory stocks are very good, with the correct checkered forend & non-checkered stock. The original finish is very good, with some protective oils. The checkering has flattened a bit from typical use & there are a couple of tight 1 1/2'' hairline cracks on the forearm & a small wood chip on each side of forearm. Minor handling marks, scratches & contusions. The metal finish on barrel, mag & receiver is a combination of remaining blue, toned patina & added antique finish which gives it an uneven, but mostly brown aged appearance. Bore is very good, with strong rifling & some light roughness. Crescent metal buttplate. Correct rear & front sights. Smooth tight action. Matching serial number located on lower tang, side of upper tang & inside of buttplate. One of only 6,496 produced. Overall, a nice example & fairly rare rifle. Antique, No FFL Req. - Value: 2500 to 5000
