The next 14 rifles are a collection of Hamilton Boys rifles. The Hamilton Rifle Co. was a manufacturer of inexpensive .22-caliber rifles. Established by Clarence J. Hamilton & his son Coello, in 1898 in Plymouth, Michigan. Company ceased production in 1945. During their 47 year history, 14 different models were invented & produced. Starting with the Model 7 - Model 55, often using every fourth number, over 1 million rifles were produced. Despite the fact there were many Hamilton rifles sold, most of these little guns were used hard & many did not survive. Hamilton rifles in good to excellent condition are not often encountered. This is your chance to get a good jumpstart on a nearly complete Hamilton collection.
Model 7, .22 SHORT, MFG: 1900-1901, SN: NONE, Pivot Barrel Single Shot Rifle, 8'' round barrel. 31 1/2'' OAL (overall length). This was the first rifle offering by Hamilton & cost $2, although advertised as being worth $3.50. The model was made entirely of castings, stamping & coil springs. It was then nickeled. No portion of the rifle is wood. The rifle has a full metal skeleton stock & forearm. The original nickel finish has fully worn away , leaving an even chocolate brown patina. Steel rolled barrel, with original brass liner. The 12 groove bore with 1 turn in 16'', r.h. twist, is fair but rough, with faint visible rifling. Brass blade front sight & stamped non-adjustable rear peep sight, with replaced screw & wingnut. Wonderful stamping on the side of the buttplate. One of less than 44,800 produced. Appears to function correctly. A fine & rare example. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 250 to 500
