T.G Schnaut Freehold Percussion Shotgun, CAL: 14 GA, MFG: 1830's, SN: 4845, Muzzleloader Shotgun, Choke: F/M, 31'' barrels. The original wood stock has a large carved cheekpiece & extensive carving throughout the stock. The receiver is also profusely engraved with a solid silver deer inlay on the right side of the receiver & a fox on the left. There is also a silver inlaid huntsman on the engraved patch box. The ornate silver scroll shaped triggerguard is engraved a hunter scene & foliate engraving. The fish shaped hammers are also engraved, with heads of the fish being worn down or corroded away. The finish on the barrels has toned to a smooth chocolate patina. Double triggers, which need some adjustment to consistently function with the hammers. Wood ramrod. Bores are fair, dark & worn. Barrel holds a single front bead. Buttstock carries a silver crescent metal buttplate which has accent engraving. Screw provision in stock for possible sling. LOP: 13 3/8''. This was a fantastically hand crafted shotgun which shows its use, but is still wonderful in its detail & craftmanship.* Antique, NO FFL Req. - Value: 1500 to 3000
