Description

Remington Model 1894 DE Grade, CAL: 12GA, MFG: 1895, SN: 100875, Early Bridge Break Action SxS Shotgun, Choke: F/M, 30'' Legia-P damascus barrels, solid matted rib. SN's started at 100K, making this shotgun the 875th produced. This was the third highest grade Remington Hammerless Double Shotgun behind E & Remington Special grades. According to the consigner; Remington Double Shotgun authority, Charles Semmers, prior to his passing, indicated this gun was the second earliest D grade known to exist & one of only 35 recorded. This compared to 41 E grades recorded. The left side of the receiver exhibits an elaborate engraving of two woodcocks surrounded by a grass background & ornamental engraving. The right side has two ducks in a similar background, also bordered by ornamental engraving. The trigger guard, break lever & tip of forearm also display accent engraving. The checkered, horn scalloped cap, pistol grip wood stocks are very good, with several small surface scrapes, nicks & dings. The checkering on wrist & cheeks is very good. The forearm checkering was restored by ACGG Master stockmaker Doug Mann of St. Annes, IL. & is excellent. The 30'' Leigia P Damascus barrels were restored by Master Metalsmith Dale Edmunds of Kansas City, MO & are excellent. The receiver is a coin silver finish that exhibits some aging patina. The bores are excellent. Unmarked silver initial oval in stock. The rib carries the original front ivory bead. Buttstock carries original horn buttplate. Unusual hole through break lever. Extension missing off left ejector. Even though this gun has been partially & professionally restored, it retains all of its original parts. Pellet counts left 240(F) & Right 238(F). LOP: 14 1/4'', DAH: 3 1/4'', DAC: 1 11/16''. Likely an excellent shooter, but also excellent appearance on an antique firearm. Antique. NO FFL Req - Value: 1200 to 2500
