ENGRAVED Remington Model 11, Premier Grade, (Grade 6 or ''F'' Grade), CAL: 12GA, MFG: 1915, SN: 177698, Semi-Auto Shotgun, Choke: FULL, 28'' barrel with matted rib. The ''F'' grade or 6 is the highest-grade of Remington Autoloading Shotgun manufactured. This gun is truly rare as it is custom built with some features outside the catalogue specifications for the ''F'' grade. The gun displays the larger, more prominent Expert ''E'' grade style single animal engraving vignettes, while the stampings on the wood & metal are marked as ''F'' grade specifications. The mix of special features was therefore special commissioned by the original customer. It came from the Wilmington, DE area & is storied to have come from a DuPont family estate. The engravings are attributed to Remington's Master engraver Joseph Loy. The engravings include a portrait of a dog in a field, with the beautiful floral/ornamental engraving border & on the right side it displays a flying mallard with the same eye-catching border & accent engraving. The deluxe, checkered, & capped pistol grip Circassian Walnut stocks are excellent, despite a tightly repaired single hairline crack around the circumference of the forearm, The stocks display few tiny defects to the wood or finish. The inside channel of the forearm is stamped with a ''6'' for the grade, as well as the SN. The buttstock also is stamped with the matching SN. The sides of the metal tangs, under the wood, are likewise stamped with the ''6'' & SN. The metal blue finish rates 95% overall on the barrel & receiver with a couple small blemishes. Bore is excellent. The solid, matted rib has a single front sight bead. Buttstock carries a solid red rubber recoil pad & a non-engraved gold initial oval. A truly fine example of turn of the century custom shop & hand built craftsmanship. LOP: 14 5/8'' overpad. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 6000 to 10000
