Description

Remington Rolling Block Model M1902 No. 5, CAL: 7mm, MFG: 1887 S/N: NONE, 30'' round barrel. The original 3 piece - buttstock, forend & half-length handguard stocks. Straight grip wood stocks appear to have been sanded & refinished so the show very few dings/contusions, metal parts are a little proud of the wood overall. some oil staining where wood meets metal around receiver & upper /lower tangs. The handguard has a steel nose cap/bayonet lug/sling swivel. The metal blue finish on the exposed barrel is about 70% with rust speckling overall that should clean up. The case-hardened receiver & trigger guard/tangs are in very good condition with case colors still very visible. Upper tang stamped: ''REMINGTON ARMS CO. -ILION NY, U.S.A. PATENTED OCTB.22ND, 1902'' Rifle is mounted with military style rear sight that is a combination sliding elevator/ladder sight. With the ladder folded down, the rear sight is a ''V'' notch at the front of the ladder. The left side of the ladder is marked '' 2 to 13 '' for use with the slider as an elevator. When the ladder is raised, there is smaller ''V'' notch on the top edge of the slider. The ladder is marked from ''14'' to 21'' for use with the slider. The front sight is a tall inverted V blade that is dovetailed into block mounted on the barrel. The rifle caliber marking is stamped on top of the barrel ahead of the forearm. Bore is very good & may be unfired, bright, with sharp lands/grooves. Buttplate appears original steel in good condition may have been wire brushed to clean rust off, still some light rust present. Original sling swivels mounted on the bottom of buttstock & forward barrel band. Retains original cleaning rod. A very nice, collectable with all parts original and extremely good condition, possibly unfired Remington Rolling Block. NO FFL Req. - Value: 800 to 1600
