Lee Enfield, Model No. 5 Jungle Carbine, CAL: 303 British, MFG: 1942, SN: B2635 , Bolt Action Rifle, 24'' round barrel. Original walnut stock is in good condition w/ light dings/scratches from honest use. The buttstock appears to be non-original replacement made to fit along with a patch in heel. The rifle retains 85% metal blue finish the barrel with a bit more wear around the flash suppressor rim, 70% on receiver, the floorplate & trigger guard, some rust present around receiver bridge, rear sight and metal joining buttstock to receiver. Bore is very good, shiny & bright w/ very defined rifling. Buttplate appears to be original metal with hard rubber pad attached & sling swivel attached . Sling swivel also on front barrel band. Flip up adjustable rear sight with two apertures, increments on sight from 2 to 13. Windage adjustable blade front sight with protective ears. The Lee-Enfield No. 5 rifle MK 1 was a shortened version of the Lee-Enfield No. 4 rifle, manufactured and used by the British. Because it was shortened for use in the jungle, it acquired the unofficial name ''Jungle Carbine'' from some of those who used them. Golden State Arms purchased a large volume of surplus British SMLE MK III's and Lee-Enfield No. 4 rifles. The rifles were in every conceivable condition of what one would expect of a rifle with a wood stock that had been used for jungle warfare, stored for a period of time, then sold as surplus.
