Savage/Stevens Lee Enfield, Model:#4 Mark 1, CAL: 303 British, MFG: 1941- 45, SN: 87C3865, Bolt Action Rifle. 25'' round barrel, Marked on receiver with: ''US PROPERTY - S - No 4 Mk1 & serial number. Light walnut stock with a few dings/dents & ''S'' stamps behind trigger guard.. Rear sight is two size aperture flip-up bridged over rear of receiver. Front sight is flat blade with metal protective ears. Metal surfaces on receiver & bolt are in good condition, all are painted black making it difficult to see stampings. Standard military style aluminum buttplate with latch for cleaning kit (not present) Matching numbers on receiver, magazine (with two other numbers lined out) & bolt. Bore is in excellent condition, bright with highly visible rifling. Unmarked olive color canvas sling. US made Enfield that was manufactured as a result of President Roosevelt assisting the British to fight the Germans during WWII. Several ''S'' stamps in rifle & stock indicate Savage manufacture. Includes olive canvas receiver cover with S-1942 stamped on inside. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 500 to 1000
