RARE, BSA (Birmingham Small Arms Co) Lee Enfield, Model ShtLE No. 1 MK1***, CAL: 303 British, MFG: 1905, SN: 59129, Bolt Action Rifle. 25 1/2'' round barrel. Dark walnut stock with many scattered dings/dents over most of the stock & crown stamps behind trigger guard & inletted brass stock disk. Metal surfaces on receiver & bolt are in good condition retaining 65% of the original blue that does have rust spotting throughout. Trigger guard, barrel bands, bayonet lug & magazine have less blue remaining about 40 %. Marked on receiver with: British proof stamps & serial number 59129 that has line through it with ER 800 below which matches the ER 800 on the nose cap & bolt. Stamped on right side: British crown - ER BSA Co. -1905 - Sht-LE I*** RI/ 1905''. Rear sight is Mk VII upgraded sight system windage & elevation adjustable w/ adjustable flip-up elevator numbered 2 to 20. Front sight is flat blade with ''03'' stamped on base. Standard military style brass buttplate. Matching numbers on receiver, nose plate & bolt. Early cocking piece and floating charge system. This model only in production from 1904 to 1907. Bore is in fair condition w/ browning, some pitting with visible rifling. Also has a pop up secondary rear peep sight & magazine cut-off lever to make single shot firing capable. Unmarked leather sling. A rare, original example of a 116 year old British military rifle. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 500 to 1000
