SCARCE Japanese Military Arisaka Model ''Type 2 Paratrooper'', CAL: 7.7mm, MFG: 1943, SN: 3599. Japanese made bolt action take down model rifle. 26'' barrel. Stock is two piece Japanese Oak, in very good condition, with the usual military use scratches & dings. Wood to metal fit is very good. Mum has been lightly ground down, however is still visible on receiver ring. Type 2 is stamped on receiver ring under the mum stamp. SN & arsenal stamps on left side of receiver. Barrel & other metal parts all show some wear, with some rust speckling throughout & 75 % bluing remaining on receiver & exposed barrel. Rear sight is graduated out to 1500 meters & retains the anti-aircraft fold out ''wings''. Original standard military front sight. Bore is very good, with strong rifling. Original sling swivels. Buttstock carries original buttplate with most of the blue down to white metal exposed around the edges. Action fully functional & very tight. Overall condition is very good with all parts original & complete. This rifle has matching serial numbers on receiver, bolt, extractor, barrel & bayonet lug. This Paratrooper manufactured at Nagoya arsenal one of approx. 22,000 made which utilized a special wedge that threads into the receiver reinforcing band & slides into a tapered groove beneath the barrel chamber snugging the barrel to receiver quite effectively. There are matching assembly numbers found on the front & rear reinforcing bands, barrel & takedown wedge. No import markings indicating this is a GI bring-back rifle. Includes a training bayonet/scabbard/leather frog all in very good condition. A highly sought after, collectible Arisaka. FFL or C&R Req. - Value: 500 to 2000
