Description

W.L. Evens U.S. Navy, Model 1826 Flintlock Pistol that has been converted to Percussion, this pistol was intended for use as a boarding weapon by the U.S. Navy, but very limited number were made and they are very desirable by collectors, Cal. 54, MFG 1830-31, SN none, 8 1/2'' barrel, One of only 1,000 or less Model 1826 pistols manufactured by W.L. Evans of Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, They are almost identical to the Simeon North Model 1826 pistols manufactured c. 1826-1829. It has blade and ''dished'' sights, standard proof and view markings, ''W.L. EVANS V. FORGE'' at the center of the lock and ''1831 USN'' at the tail, top of barrel is marked US AH with proof mark, a swivel mounted ramrod has been removed, and a belt hook. Wood has a few cracks & many dings & contusions, metal has lots of rust scaring, Bore is good, steel cap, only 1000 were made when John Rogers ran out of money to full his military contract so W.L. Evens factory helped fill the contract. Antique No FFL Req. - Value: 500 to 1500
